Ethel Lucinda Martin, 75 years, of Excelsior Springs, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020, at her residence. She was born on Friday, November 9, 1945, in Turley, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late James and the late Zelma (née Laughlin) Merchant. Survivors Include: • Russell Ray Martin, husband, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri • William Sherman, son, of Lathrop, Missouri • Sandra Scalf, daughter, of Kearney, Missouri • Jill (Mike) Cox, step-daughter, of Kansas City, Missouri • Russell Martin, step-son, of Osage Beach, Missouri • Nicolle Sherman, granddaughter, of Richmond, Missouri • Anna (Stefan) Magnusson, granddaughter, of Kansas City, Missouri • Austin Cox, grandson, of Kansas City, Missouri • Morgan Cox, granddaughter, of Kansas City, Missouri • Izzabelle Hash, great-granddaughter, of Richmond, Missouri • Fisher Hash, great-grandson, of Richmond, Missouri In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by • William Merchant, brother, December 7, 2020 • Jesse Merchant, brother Ethel loved to read, especially Agatha Christie novels and mysteries. She enjoyed exploring her family roots through genealogy research. She and her friend would travel around the country to research their lineage. Ethel was the Mayor of Crystal Lakes, Missouri, in the mid 1990's. She was very proud of her Associate's Degree in Electronics Engineering. She loved flower gardens and kept one at her house, a love she got from her mother. Ethel was a big fan of country music. She loved her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
