Frank McMurray, 85, of Kearney Missouri passed away in the embrace of family on Friday April 23, 2021. A memorial service will be held from 1:00PM - 3:00PM on June 19, 2021 at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Kearney. A private family graveside will be held following the service. Frank was born on September 17, 1935 to Frank and Margaret McMurray in Brooklyn, New York. After graduating from high school, he went on to work many jobs. His jobs ranged from milk and fuel oil delivery to driving a school bus in New York City. Most of his work years were spent at TWA, he retired in the late 1990’s. His job with TWA moved the family to Holt, Missouri in 1976. In his younger years Frank was also a member of the Clay County sheriff’s posse, a CASA, and a building inspector for Clay County. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world. He married the love of his life, Ellen O’Donnell, in 1958. Frank and Ellen had a joyous 48 years of marriage. He was unendingly proud of his children Lisa, Laura, Leslie, Christopher, and Lydia and always tried his best to support them. His children went on to pursue careers in education, cosmetology, physical therapy and law enforcement, His knowledge and guidance was the foundation of his family. Frank was passionate about music his whole life. He formed a band in high school and preformed at many weddings and celebrations in the NYC area. He not only played current hits but played classical guitar as well. In later years many a camper enjoyed singing around the McMurray family campfire to Frank’s guitar playing. Anyone who knew Frank knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. Frank is predeceased by his wife of 48 years Ellen, his parents Frank and Margaret, his sister Margaret Ernst, and his daughter-in law Camille McMurray. He is survived by his daughters Lisa McMurray, Laura Sells (Ron), Leslie Krohne (Bo), Lydia Baker (Jamie) and his son Christopher McMurray. His sisters Rosemary McMurray of Queens, NY and Agnes McMurray of Tallahassee, FL and his eleven grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. We mourn the loss of our patriarch and encourage all who knew him to remember the beauty and humor he brought to this world. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family requests no flowers but asks that anyone who feels inclined to donate to Kearney Shop with a Cop (money can be sent to the Kearney Trust Company) as Frank was always concerned about helping children in need.
