Obituary of Jacqueline Mayes Hines

Please share a memory of Jacqueline to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jacqueline “Jacki” Mayes-Hines was born in Chicago, IL on May 13th, 1960 to Margarite Mayes. Jacki was the first born out of eight children. Jacki was also the first grandchild of Robert and Virginia Mayes! (Yes, I said it! First granddaughter)Jacki confessed her love for Jesus Christ at an early age and was later baptized in Liberty, MO. Jacki attended Chicago Public Schools and received her diploma from Martin Luther King High School. After high school, Jacki met her first husband, Frankie Hickmon. Frankie and Jacki had four beautiful children: Frankie “Cisco,” Lawrence, Angelia, and Jennifer. Jacki was widowed by her first husband, Frankie Hickmon. Jacki, determined to support her family, became a member of the Chicago Women in Trades Sisterhood. She worked as a flagger through this organization. She also worked at Amtrak for many years until she met her second husband, Frank Hickmon. Can you believe it? She met another Frank Hickmon. They moved to Liberty, MO, where they continued to raise her four children. They spent many years traveling and having the best family house parties you could imagine. Jacki picked up a career in collections, doing what she loves to do best…TALKING. She was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Liberty, MO. She became deaconess there and met her current husband, Carl Hines. Jacki was well- known for her contagious laugh, giving spirit, acts of service, and of course, always being the life of the party. In 2021, Jacki received the Martin Luther King Jr. Outstanding Public Service Award. She was a joy to be around and loved by so many. Jacki is preceded in death by: her mother, Margarite Mayes; her grandparents, Robert and Virginia Mayes; her first husband, Frankie Hickmon; and her dear son, Frankie “Cisco” Hickmon. Jacki leaves to mourn her passing: Her husband, Carl Hines; her children, Lawrence, Angelia, and Jennifer; her seven siblings, Chantel, Shirrel, Bednago, Hope, Margarite “Lady”, Maurice, and Michael and their spouses; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, her church family and friends; as well as her two grandpups. Jacki will be missed tremendously. We take comfort in knowing she is with her Savior.
