John Edwin Schmid, 79 years, of Rayville, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021, in Richmond, Missouri. He was born on Sunday, November 9, 1941, in Coffey County, the son of the late John and the late Retta (Cardwell) Schmid. John married Sandra (Snyder) Dickerson, on July 5, 1996, in Powell Gardens, Missouri. He worked as a carpenter. John loved to hunt, and particularly loved football. He enjoyed traveling with his wife: together, they visited all 50 states, excluding Hawaii. Survivors Include: • Sandra Schmid, wife, of Rayville, Missouri • Cynthia Schmid, daughter, of Konawa, Oklahoma • Denise (Jay) Aldrich, daughter, of Haysville, Kansas • Vickie (Michael) Leath, daughter, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma • Wayne (Yadi) Dickerson, step-son, of Kenosha, Wisconsin • Danielle (Josh) Echaves, step-daughter, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri • 14 grandchildren • 12 great-grandchildren • 1 great-great-grandchild In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother, and one grandchild. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Excelsior Springs. Services will be officiated by Pastor Phil Dillon. Memorial donations may be directed to St Judes Children's Research Hospital.
