Obituary of Brad Alan Schultz

Please share a memory of Brad to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bradford Alan Schultz, age 62 of Kearney, MO, passed from this life unexpectedly on Wednesday August 18, 2021, at Liberty Hospital. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, uncle, dog dad, and friend. Brad was born on September 26, 1958, in Columbus, Ohio, to Nancy and Stanley Schultz. Brad spent most of his childhood in Shaker Heights, OH where he earned his Eagle Scout badge and graduated from Shaker Heights High School in 1976. Brad was a 1980 graduate of Carleton College, Northfield, MN with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics. While at Carleton, he was a member of the varsity football team and rugby club. In July 2021, Brad celebrated his 41st anniversary as a commodities trader and risk management director in the grain and ethanol industries. His distinguished career included work with The Pillsbury Company, ConAgra Corn Processors, Centennial Trading, Minnesota Corn Processors and the Lansing Trade Group. In 2013 Brad accepted a new professional challenge and began work in the ethanol industry at Glacial Lakes Energy. After a brief retirement, Brad recently joined the team at ShowMe Ethanol. Brad’s leadership skills, work ethic, analytical mind, and dry wit enabled him to earn the respect of others and foster many lifelong friendships throughout these industries. He is survived by his loving wife Alison (née Worley) of 35 years; brother Greg Schultz, of Delaware, Ohio; nieces Meghan Kunzler, Haylee Kunzler, Hannah Parker and Courtlynn Kerns; and many cousins and friends he held dear. Brad was preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Nancy (née Schultz) Schultz and his sister-in-law Louise Schultz. Brad was a man of various hobbies. He was an avid reader and lover of blues, jazz, and classic rock music. Brad loved to prepare all types of food on the grill and smoker to be shared and enjoyed with family and friends. Brad enthusiastically cheered for the Chiefs, Royals, and Ohio State University. He loved traveling, watching sunsets, spending quiet moments with Alison and their dogs, tailgating at Arrowhead Stadium, and experiencing life to the fullest. Brad’s final act of generosity to others was to participate in the organ and tissue donor program. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 25, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Kearney, 925 E. State Route 92, Kearney, Missouri. A private family burial of ashes will occur at a future date at the Old Scotland Church of Christ in Jamesport, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to: KC Pet Project, Carleton College, or LOVE Inc., of Clay County Missouri.
