Obituary of Floyd V. Williamson Jr.

Floyd Vernon "Tony" Williamson of Oak Grove, Missouri, 72, passed away in his home surrounded by family on August 26, 2021. Floyd was born in Creston, Iowa, on August 16, 1949, to Floyd Vernon Williamson, Sr and Bernadine Emily Doyle Williamson. He had one brother Morris "Sandy" Claussen (Nita), Portsmouth, Virginia. He married Peggy Ann Whited on August 22, 1969. They were married 52 years and have four children, Floyd grew up in Prescott, Iowa where he attended school and graduated in 1967. He attended radio school briefly and worked as a DJ spinning records as "Tony Williams" before attending Northwest Missouri State University. He earned a Bachelors in Education and two Masters, one in history and one for K-12 counseling becoming an educator, counselor and coach for the next 36 years. Floyd was a Yankee fanatic and baseball enthusiast who loved to talk players, stats and trades. He also liked reading history and visiting historical sites with his family in tow or watching and re-watching Western films. His favorite day of the year was Christmas Eve where he was the master of ceremonies, surrounded by his family. Floyd loved to laugh, joke and have fun. His family was his pride and joy. He will be missed by so many. Survivors Include: Four children; Sara Cummings (Richard), Oak Grove, Missouri, Avery Williamson, Blue Springs, Missouri, Laura Raney (Richard), Overland Park, Kansas and Molly Daily (Kyle), Kearney, Missouri, Floyd has 8 grandchildren, Ashley Wyrick (Jesse), Windsor, Colorado, Andrew Cummings (Kalina), Independence, Missouri, Alison Rolf (Casey), Raymore, Missouri, Jackson Williamson, Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Kurtis, Grace and Lauren Daily, Kearney, Missouri, and Murphy Eshelman, Overland Park, Kansas and 4 great grandchildren Abigail, Parker, Hyrum and Atticus. Preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Bernadine Williamson, Sr, brother; Morris Claussen and sister in law; Nita Claussen. The family is requesting that quest should wear there favorite baseball gear in honor of Floyd's favorite pastime. Floyd Williamson Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Aug 31 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Kearney 925 E. State Route 92, Kearney. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to their Christmas Fund for under privileged families. .
