William “Pete” Whitteck, 69, of Kearney, Missouri, passed away on August 31, 2021. Visitation will be held on September 7, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Hidden Valley Funeral Home, 925 East 92 Highway, Kearney, Missouri. A funeral will be held at 2:00 pm on September 8, 2021 at Kearney First United Methodist Church, 1000 East 92 Highway, Kearney, Missouri. Pete was born on September 6, 1951 in Independence, Missouri. Pete worked at General Motors and was as an electrician with Kansas City Power and Light for 25 years. Pete was an avid hunter who loved the outdoors. Throughout his life, he hunted deer, turkey, quail, pheasant and fished for catfish and trout. He also was a huge NASCAR fan and spent race days at Bristol, Daytona, Kansas, and Talladega. After retirement, he enjoyed camping with his wife, Jenifer, dog Harley, and numerous friends and family members in South Dakota, Colorado, Tennessee, Wyoming, Maysville and Branson, Missouri. Pete loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them in their various activities. He also was very well known for his summer garden with many neighbors commenting on his green thumb. Pete is survived by his wife Jenifer, of the home, his daughter, Emilee (Chris) Thompson of Holt, Missouri, and son Jason (Kari) Whitteck of Kearney, Missouri, grandchildren Lane and Madysen Thompson and Addyson and Deacon Whitteck, brother Mark (Linda) Whitteck of Webb City, MO, sister Judy (David) McGrath of Independence, Missouri, step siblings Everett Fisher and Kelly Vogel, and Aunt Mary (Terry) Esteb of Independence, Missouri, and numerous relatives and friends. Pete was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Whitteck, his mother, Bessie Jensen, his grandparents, and step-siblings. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Kearney First United Methodist Church or to the Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation (https://mochf.org/donate-online/) to support the Smithville Lake Disabled Deer &Turkey Hunts at Smithville Lake, which Pete participated in numerous times.
