Vernon Leonard Porter, 87, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri passed away September 13, 2021, at Liberty Hospital. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Radiant Life Assembly of God Church located at 704 N Jefferson Street Kearney, Missouri 64060. The Funeral will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, September 22, 2021, also at Radiant Life Assembly of God Church. Graveside services will immediately follow the funeral service, Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Fairview Cemetery in Kearney, Missouri. Rev. Vernon Porter was born March 20, 1934, in Barnett, Missouri. He married Stella Mae Jobe on July 4, 1952. (69 years) Survivors include 3 sons, Gary Paul (Karen B.) Porter, Vernon Lee (Darcelle) Porter, and Wade Douglas (Karen J.) Porter. He has 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and two sisters Louise Fulkerson and Kay Echoff. He was preceded in death by his father Leonard Porter and his mother Edith Porter, 2 brothers, and 4 sisters along with his grandson, Paul Porter. Vernon has two surviving sisters. Rev. Porter was a pastor for over 50 years. He built or remodeled several churches in Missouri along with many churches and bible schools in Central America.
