Please share a memory of Vonna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Vonna Lee Davis, 92 years, of Excelsior Springs, left this world Saturday afternoon September 18, 2021, to be with her savior. She was born on Monday April 22, 1929 in Lakin, Kansas the daughter of the late Ora and Edna (Moser) Grubbs. She married Roy Cederberg. Roy passed away in 1977, she then met Lowell Davis who was devout Christian in 1978, they were married for 40 years. Vonna Lee worked many years as a nurse for several doctors in the various locations that she lived in. One of her proudest accomplishments was the day she received her LPN. She held numerous positions in the various organizations that she belonged to. She loved to travel; Hawaii a couple of times, two weeks in Europe touring England, Germany, France, Austria and just seeing the beautiful countryside. Her most recent trip was to Branson, MO to see the sites she had not seen before. She loved to sew and could sew anything from clothes to flags for the church. She enjoyed gardening and always had a small garden no matter where she lived. When she moved to Excelsior Springs, MO she and Lowell had a large garden and during the summer months she was constantly canning vegetables. She could cook meals fit for royalty. During the holidays when the family members would meet at her house they definitely did not leave hungry. Prior to Thanksgiving and Christmas she would start baking in September. We always teased her because she never knew what a small meal was. She would cook 6 or 7 different cakes and pies and to top it off she would make at 50 to 60 dozen cookies and personally decorate them. She was a devout Christian and a member of the Second Milers Sunday School class at the First Methodist Church of Excelsior Springs, MO. She was very loving and caring person who didn't have a bad bone in her body. She would give you the shirt off of her back. Survivors Include: four daughters; Cheryl (Jack) Ellis of Excelsior Springs, MO., Debbie Davis of Tahlequah, OK, Laura Brown of Mesa, AZ, Sheryln Davis of Oakland, OR, one son; Michael Davis Tahlequah, OK, seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren She is preceded in death by her parents; Ora B. and Edna J.
