Please share a memory of Ruby to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ruby Mae (Hollan) Bettis, 83, of Holt, Missouri, went to be with the Lord November 13, 2021. She lived in Holt, Missouri, at the time of her death and was formerly from Mammoth Spring, Arkansas. She was born on January 4, 1938, in Maysville, Oklahoma, to Doc Hollan and Easter (Gray) Hollan. She lived in Oklahoma until she was a young adult and then moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where she met the love of her life, James Franklin “Frank” Bettis. They were married on December 10, 1954, in Kansas City, Missouri. They remained in the Kansas City area until 1970 when they took their family, daughter Sharon (Hopkins) and their son, Jay Bettis, to Mammoth Spring, Arkansas. Ruby worked at various jobs over the years, but most important was being a farmhand and doing whatever chore was needed on the farm. In 1976 Ruby and Frank moved to Kearney, Missouri, where they remained until Frank’s retirement in 1979. They returned to Arkansas where they remained until 2018, when they lost their house to a fire and moved to Holt, Missouri. Ruby is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Bettis; parents Doc and Easter Hollan; brother Taylor Hollan; sister Lola (Hollan) Herrington; brother Leonard Hollan; brother Minor Lee Hollan; brother Randolph Hollan; brother Jacob Hollan; brother Mart Hollan; and sister Carolyn (Hollan) Phillips. She is survived by daughter, Sharon (Robert) Hopkins and son, Jay (Jennifer) Bettis; grandchildren Andy (Joy) Bettis, Josh “Joshy” (Lacie) Bettis, Taylor Bettis, Jacob Hopkins, Arthur (Samantha) Hopkins; and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be held at Wortham Funeral Home in Highland, Arkansas, on December 4th, 2021, at 11:00a.m. with eternal rest next to her husband at Buchanan Cemetery in Center, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to Buchanan Cemetery, c/o Terry Hill, 871 Ridge Road, Hardy, Arkansas 72542.
