Donald W. (Duck) Anderson made his journey to be with the Lord on December 9, 2021 at the home of his daughter surrounded by his loved ones. A visitation for Donald will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 1:00-2:00PM at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Excelsior Springs. Services will be December 15, 2021 beginning at 2:00PM with a graveside service to follow at Elmira Cemetery. Don was born in Ludlow, Missouri on May 26, 1936 to Charles and Francis Anderson. At an early age Don joined the Excelsior Springs Boxing Club and found much success as he would become a Golden Gloves champion of Kansas City, St. Joe, and also Springfield. He was a strong supporter of the Kansas City Golden Gloves and National Golden Gloves and donated much of his time helping with the Lawson Boxing Club coached by the late Dennis (Blimp) Zekeil and the Lathrop Boxing Club coached by the late Jimmy (Bulldog) Anderson. Don joined the USMC on May 24, 1954 and received an Honorable Discharge with the rank of Sergeant and received the National Defense Service Medal - Good Conduct Medal. He always talked about his tours in Japan and his time in Hawaii and always spoke highly of his brothers of the Semper Fi as well as any member of the armed forces. Don married Mollie Jane Parker on March 14, 1958 and from this marriage they had four children. Kathy (Audie) Twitchell of Excelsior Springs, MO, Freddie Anderson -deceased, Donald N. Anderson - deceased, and Jimmy (Lori) Anderson of Richmond, MO. Don and Mollie divorced on March 21, 1979. Don was a member and a deacon of the Woodland Baptist Church. Don worked at various mills in and around the North Kansas City area before he found employment with ADM at which he was employed for over 38 years and retired from in 1998. Don loved sports and enjoyed watching his grandkids and great grandkids play and attended many of their games. Don loved to go camping and fishing and spent many hours on the lake snagging for spoonbill or setting out jug lines and trot lines and also loved crappie fishing. He would make the trip every year to Sedalia, MO to see the Missouri State Fair and watch the opening ceremonies as well as watch the parade and camp out for a few nights and catch a concert while there. Don was a member of the Eagles of Excelsior Springs and the Veterans Club of Excelsior Springs and never knew a stranger. He will be sadly missed by family, friends, and all that knew him. Don had spoke of this time coming for some time and wanted Kathy and Jimmy to know that he was ready to go be with the Lord and be with Freddie and Donnie. Don was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Francis (Studdard) Anderson, sons Freddie and Donald (Lil Donnie) Anderson, grandsons Audie Wayne Twitchell, Jeremy Dale Twitchell, Zachary James Anderson, brother Charles (Skip) Anderson, Jimmy (Bulldog) Anderson, and sisters Mary (Sissy) Harbit, Jo Ellen (Jody) Crowley. He is survived by brother Pete Anderson of Missouri City, MO as well as his children; Kathy (Audie) Twitchell and Jimmy (Lori) Anderson, grandchildren who named him PaPa Duck; Bethany (Josh) Reed, Matthew Anderson, Jeffrey Anderson, Justin Anderson, Jennifer (Johnny) Young, Katie (Chris) Frost, Luke Anderson, and Jace Anderson, great grandchildren who named him Ol' PaPa; Isabella and Alex Reed, Elijah Frost, Sydnee and Matthew Anderson, Aaron and DJ Anderson, Terry Endsley, KaeJay Anderson, and Willow Young. The family has requested masks to be worn for the services.
