Ivyl Gregory Guinn, 65, of Holt, passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Liberty Hospital. Greg was born on Wednesday, January 18, 1956 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of the late Merlen Guinn and the late De'Elda (née Dabney) Garrett. From a very early age, Greg's hands were always busy. From roaming the floors of his grandfather's machine shop collecting spare nuts and bolts to developing a natural zeal for learning how parts and pieces come together to make things move; he was all in. After his graduation from Moulton-Udell, Greg moved to Kansas City and went to work as a millwright for Armco Steel and began his career as a machinist. If a part wasn't available, he would fabricate it. He was inventive and creative and applied these talents in the workplace. He later went on to work for Wade and Sons, Avis Furniture, Burd and Fletcher, ATK at Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, and most recently became a "Ford Man" in 2014 at Kansas CIty's Assembly Plant. He was a proud member of the Local UAW 249. When he wasn't working, he was working. He spent many hours improving his '33 Plymouth Coupe and his 1965 Dodge Coronet drag car. Otherwise, you could often find him attempting his personal best on a drag strip, hunting on family land in northern Missouri, fishing, in the kitchen cooking, or attending one of his eight grandchildren's sporting events. Survivors Include: • Adrienne (Daniel) Topel, daughter, of Liberty, MO • Alissa (Reggie Craft) Guinn, daughter, of Lee's Summit, MO • Amy (Nathan) Eve, daughter, of Lee's Summit, MO • Amanda Guinn, daughter, of Lenexa, KS • Donna Guinn, partner in life and mother of his four daughters, Independence, MO • 8 grandchildren: Ava, Norah, Owen, Kaiya, Aidan, Khloe, Jackson, and Leona • Steven (Peggy) Guinn, brother, of Independence, MO • Edward (Jacque) Neil, brother, of Sibley, MO • Rochelle (Dennis) Kirby, sister, of Independence, MO • Carole (Larry) Unruh, sister, of Fountain Hills, AZ • Merlen "Eddie" (Melanie) Guinn, brother, of Moulton, IA In addition to his parents, Greg was preceded in death by: • Dennis Clark, brother Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022, from 10:30 to 12:00 PM at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Liberty followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 PM noon. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Sunset View Cemetary in Moulton, Iowa.
