Ursal Marie Leiter, 99 years, of Excelsior Springs Missouri, passed away on Saturday December 25, 2021 in Liberty Missouri. She was born on Wednesday November 8, 1922 in Summit, South Dakota to the daughter of the late Ernest and Viola (née Rilling) Currier. After attending high school and business school in South Dakota, she move to Seattle, Washington and eventually to Excelsior Springs, Missouri to work at the VA hospital. There she meet and married Robert J. Leiter, Sr. Her husband went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad after the Korean war and they moved to Wamego, Kansas then to Hays, Kansas, and eventually back to Excelsior Springs. She worked at the Excelsior Springs Hospital and retired from the Liberty Hospital. She was an avid sports fan. Loved the Chiefs and Royals and enjoy watching various sports on tv. She volunteered at the Excelsior Spring Museum and the First Methodist Church. Ursal loved playing cards with her friend. Ursal is survived by three children; Robert (Theresa) Leiter Jr., Kenneth Leiter, Cynthia (John) Hecker, two grandchildren; Derek Leiter, Mindy Kepfield, and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Leiter Sr. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Excelsior Springs Museum & Archives.
