Brett Andrew Dickey, 39, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri went home to be with the Lord on January 5, 2022. Brett was born November 23, 1982 in Excelsior Springs. He graduated from Excelsior Springs High School and attended Missouri Western College. He was a lifelong resident of Excelsior Springs. Brett was baptized and confirmed at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. After a year in college, Brett came home to work construction with Dan. His heart belonged to his children, Aubrynn Kaye Dickey (Rachael Johnson) and Theodore Edward "Teddy" Dickey (Monica Beckman). He loved them so. Brett had a smile that was infectious to everyone he met. He had so many friends that enjoyed his company. He always had a laugh and a great time to give everyone. Brett lived life on his own terms. When he loved you, he loved you, when he was good, he was good. In his early teens Brett took up fishing. It became a passion for the rest of his life. Those who have gone before him were his lovely grandparents; Jack and Jean Dickey, Grandpa Billy Joe Yelton, his brothers, Matthew and Andrew Yelton, Aunt Jackie and Uncle Fred Villanueva and his sister Melissa. He is survived by his parents Dan and Teresa Yelton and Kent (Michelle) Dickey, his sisters Carissa Dickey and Lesa Dickey, his brothers Christopher (Laura) Yelton and Garrett Dickey, his grandmothers Amerlia Beckwith and Mary Yelton, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and great friends. Brett was very close to his nephew Kaden "Frank" Ransom. We will miss his sense of humor, his blue eyes, and smiling face. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 5:30-7:30pm at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Excelsior Springs, 5951 MO 10 Excelsior Springs, Missouri 64024. A private family service will be held at a later date.
