Obituary of Joe M. Hamilton

Please share a memory of Joe to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joe Morgan Hamilton Sr., age, 75 of Lawson, Missouri, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Liberty Hospital, Liberty, Missouri. Joe was born May 28, 1946, in Wenatchee, Washington. He has been a resident of the Lawson area since 1956. Joe was united in marriage to Deloris (Graves) Hamilton on October 1, 1965, and to this union, two children were born Sarah Ann and Joe Morgan. Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Joe was an avid reader, and he loved his westerns. He enjoyed working in the yard, he loved his roses. Joe was a hard worker who took full advantage of his "coffee breaks" on the back deck with his wife and his faithful dog "Jake". Joe loved preparing for family dinners and could be found at the smoker in all temperatures preparing the feature presentation of the meal be it ribs, brisket, or pork. While proclaiming to be a confirmed "Scrooge", Christmas was his favorite time of year, and he could be found the day after Thanksgiving buying poinsettias for his "girls". Joe took pride in his "boys" and the way they take care of their families and what hard workers all of them are. He loved spending time with family and friends, loved long conversations with colorful stories in abundance. Two men that helped Joe's spiritual walk shared words of wisdom that he has carried and shared with all who would listen. From Burnis Norris, his childhood Sunday School Teacher; "If it's in the Word, no one can change it, it is what God said and that is the way it is." From his mentor of many years, Dorsey Mynatt; "Pray, do what you can do and leave it in God's hands". Joe was preceded in death by his parents, William Jackson Hamilton and Henrietta (Morgan) Hamilton, two sisters; Estelle Brakebill and Helen Riddle, infant brother; J.C. Hamilton. Joe is survived by his bride of 56 years, Deloris (Graves) Hamilton, one daughter; Sarah (Jerry) McLaughlin, one son; Joe (Brenda) Hamilton Jr., four grandchildren; Amber (Gorhman) Summers, Seth (Lauren) McLaughlin, Tyler (Hanna) Leeka, Kylie Jo Hamilton, six great-grandchildren; Gage Summers, Adalyn Summers, Blakely Williams, Eli Leeka, Everly Williams, and Wren Leeka, and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers please make a Memorial Contribution to the; American Heart Association, 6800 W 93rd St., Overland Park, KS 66212.
