Myrtle Torrey, 84, years, of Chillicothe, passed away on Friday April 1, 2022, at Lawson Manor and Rehab. She was surrounded by her family and those who loved her. She was born on Wednesday March 2, 1938, in Bennettsville, South Carolina, the daughter of the late William and the late Navetta (Munnerlyn) Whitaker. Louise was the oldest of four children. She loved to sing and was a member of the Sweet Adelines Women Quartet in her early years. She was actively involved in the Eagles Club of Chillicothe, MO, as well as a volunteer for Hospice for many years. After losing her husband William, and son Garrett to cancer at a young age, she also lost her oldest son Bill who was active in the military, she then became actively involved with Gold Star military families. Louise remarried Dale Torrey who passed away in 2019. She is proceeded in death by her husbands, sons, parents, and her sister Betty. Myrtle is survived by two daughters: Linda (James) Gall of Liberty, and Cheryl (Terry) Gore of Amelia Island Florida, sister: Ann Beard of North Carolina, brother: Sonny Whitaker of North Carolina, eleven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews of North Carolina. .
