Charles Wetzel, 69 of Richmond, Missouri passed away April 23, 2022 at home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Cotton Creek Cowboy Chapel in Richmond, Missouri. Mr. Wetzel was born May 25, 1952. Charles was a Polio survivor and a miracle walker. He spent most of his early childhood in Children's Mercy Hospital. He never let his handicap hold him back. He worked many jobs over the years including laying sod for Bud Owens, working for Saf-T-Flare, and McCray Lumber and OTR Truck Driver. He did tree service, roofing and junk removal for many years. He loved working with kids and young adults. He was proud of his family, especially his granddaughters and great grandson. Charles loved to fish and just look at the stars. Charles was preceded in death by his parents Charles H. Wetzel and Grace Mae (Franklin) Wetzel, his brothers Jack, John and Danny Wetzel and sisters Debbie Lackey and Cheryl Bowles. Survivors include his wife Betty (Ellie) Wetzel, stepdaughter Jimmie Rae Sample of Richmond, Missouri, granddaughters Jasmine and Isabelle Burns, great grandson Greyson Burns all of the home. Survivors also include brothers Ronnie Wetzel and wife Joyce of Richmond, Duane Wetzel and Ann of Orrick, Mike Wetzel and Barbie of Richmond, Dottie Alexander and Kenny of Excelsior Springs, Brenda Wicker and Steve of Wood Heights, and many many nieces and nephews-along with great nieces and nephews and many friends.
