Obituary of Donald Lee Gorsage

Donald Lee Gorsage, 67 of Rayville Missouri passed away surrounded by his loving family at North Kansas City Hospital on July 14th, 2022. Don was born to Walter Lee Gorsage and Virginia Gorsage (Drehel) on March 11th, 1955 in Harrisonville, MO. He graduated Oak Park High School in 1973. Following graduation, Don enlisted in the US Naval Academy and he served aboard The USS White Plains (AFS-4). From there his career began at Ford Motor Company, retiring in 2007. For years he served in the Army National Guard. Don was employed by Orscheln Farm and Home, until his passing. Don was a loving husband and family man. He was dedicated to his children and beamed over his grandchildren. He had a big heart and accepted many as his own. He would offer anyone a hand if they needed it. He was a hard worker and a man of integrity. Don had his own little way to make people chuckle. Don was preceded in death by his biological mother, Virginia, his father Walter, his mother Alice Gorsage (Burch), wife Edna Gorsage (McCollough), sister Phyllis Dickerson, great granddaughters Ireland and GoodKnight Ribando. He is survived by his wife Barbara Nelson-Gorsage,his sisters Martha Gorsage, Linda Hudson (Jim Hudson), his daughters, Donette Gorsage, Valley Coleman, Tammy Tobeck (James Tobeck), Teresa Bailey; sons, Troy Bailey (Vicki Bailey), Dan Nelson (Mitch Ham), Derek Nelson (Angela Nelson), Darren Nelson (Juliane Nelson), many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 19th at 6pm-8:30pm at Hidden Valley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs, MO. Funeral service will be Wednesday, July 20th, 1pm at Hidden Valley Funeral Home followed by the funeral procession to Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Kearney MO. In lieu of flowers, you may consider a memorial donation to The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation or to The Paralyzed Veterans of America.
