Obituary of Loyd Vernon Dickey

Loyd Vernon Dickey, 91, of Lawson, Missouri passed away on July 24, 2022. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from 6:00pm-8:30pm at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Lawson, 412 N Raum, Lawson, Missouri. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 11am at Lawson Baptist Church with burial to follow at Lawson Cemetery. Loyd was born on May 31, 1931 in Montrose, Missouri to parents Loyd Edgar Dickey and Leona Odle. Loyd married Lucille in 1952. Within this marriage three children were born; Linda, Randall, and Loyd Allen. He has been a resident of Lawson, Mo since 1962. Loyd retired from Ford Motor Co. after 31 years. He also worked for Charlie Hughes gas station in Lawson, Missouri where he greeted friends and neighbors for 15 years. Loyd was an avid fox hunter all of his life. Loyd was saved at a Billy Graham Crusade in 1969 in Kansas City, Mo. Among many roles he served in the church, he was superintendent of Sunday School for Canaan Hill Church of the Nazarene for many years and is a faithful member of the Lawson Baptist Church. Loyd was an avid athlete, playing basketball until he was 45 years old and pitched softball until he was in his 60’s. Loyd was a KU fan, a Royals fan, and a Chiefs fan, and he loved to watch all sports. He was a talented fisherman that knew how to catch a fish. Loyd will be missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents Loyd Edgar Dickey and Leona Odle. Survivors include his wife of 69 years Lucille, three children; Linda (John) Lowe, Randall (Cindy) Dickey, and Loyd Allen Dickey, six grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren and one on the way, one great great grandchild who all learned to love Jesus through the example that Loyd was. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Lawson Baptist Church Building Fund in Loyd’s name.
