Obituary of Robert Snedden

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert Dean Snedden (Bob), 90, of Lawson, MO. passed away March 3, 2020. Robert was born May 23,1929 in Cameron, MO to Harold and Pauline (Arnote) Snedden. He married Ruth Fay (Bayless) Snedden on May 15,1948 in Lexington, MO. The couple was married for 67 years prior to Ruth’s passing in 2016. Robert was honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 1947. His work career consisted of over thirty years of dedicated employment as an iron worker for Armco Steel/Union Wire Rope. As with his wife Ruth, Robert was often sought out for his knowledge of raising and care of sheep. An avid gardener, Robert enjoyed growing vegetables as much as he enjoyed eating them. His gardening highlight was growing a 22” long 91/2-pound radish which was featured in the local newspaper. Robert’s caring and compassion knew no bounds as he was always willing to help those in need. He was a Church Elder at Salem Christian Union Church in Excelsior Springs, MO and found joy in being of service to others. A bit of a jokester and always good for a laugh, Robert’s sense of humor lives on in his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Robert is survived by his children: Ronald Snedden & wife Cheryl of Harlingen, TX, Carol Madsen of St Joseph, MO, Bruce Snedden of Kansas City, MO, Kevin Snedden & wife Christine of Liberty, MO, 6 grandchildren: 8 great-grandchildren; sibling: Kay Battaile Robert is preceded in death by his parents: Harold Snedden & wife Mary, Pauline Dice & husband Elmer; wife: Ruth Fay Snedden; daughter: Katherine Heitmann; brother: Glenn Keener; loyal canine: Baby Girl.
