Rita M Alvarez, 89, of Independence, Missouri, died March 20, 2020. Private Family Services will be held on March 26, 2020. Rita was born on November 12, 1930, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Romo) Hernandez. She married Augustine Matha Alvarez on June 25, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri, who preceded her in death on January 11, 2011. Together, they raised seven children: Kathryn, John, Rita, Teresa, Ralph, Evonne, and Toni. Her family was most important to Rita. She enjoyed her family, especially during the holidays. Rita is survived by five daughters: Kathryn (Mike), Rita, Teresa, Evonne, and Toni (Terry); one son: Ralph (Linda); many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and one sister: Mary. In addition to her parents and husband, Rita is preceded in death by her son: John; four brothers: Jessie, Larry, Alex, and Victor; and two sisters: Josephine, and Francis.
