After a brave fight, Cynthia Jane Short, 69, of Kearney, Missouri passed away June 18th at The University of Nebraska Hospital. Visitation will be held Thursday June 25th from 11-12:30 at Hidden Valley Funeral Homes in Kearney, Missouri. Funeral/Memorial services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday June 25, 2020 at Hidden Valley Funeral Homes in Kearney, Missouri. Cynthia was born August 22, 1950 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She received her LPN from the Columbia Public Schools Program of Practical Nursing. From there she worked for 38 years in a variety of Doctor’s offices where she was well loved and known for her friendly smile, calm demeanor, and kindness. She had recently retired from the Kearney Clinic in Kearney, Missouri. She enjoyed many things like planting flowers and plants in their yard, riding her bike, exercising, doing the puzzles in the paper each morning, and creating wonderful meals for her family each holiday. She also enjoyed traveling to new places with her daughter and husband, and spending time with her grandchildren. Her and her husband Stephen had just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. She is preceded in death by her father Robert Shingler and stepmother Bette Shingler, as well as her father-in-law Byron Short and mother-in-law Alice Short. Survivors include her husband Stephen Short, daughter Jessica Short, son Travis (Jody) Short, grandchildren Averie and Aaron Short, mother Ethel Lambert, stepfather Gene Lambert, sisters Claudia and Lisa Shingler, Stepbrother Russell (Amy) Hester, Stepsister Donna Hester (Penelope Turnbow), brother-in-law Bruce (Linda) Short, sister-in-law Claudia Short, and nieces Lindsey Shingler, Andrea (Mickey) Mentzer, and Lauren (Tommy) Huller. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
