Obituary of Emily Francis Denney

Emily Francis Denney, 28, passed away on Saturday, August 1 after a courageous battle with a rare form of brain cancer. She left behind her earthly body and immediately entered the presence of Jesus whom she loved and trusted. Emily was born to Mark Everett Denney and Francis Kathleen Smith (Kathye) in Liberty, MO on November 20, 1991. She was a proud member of the John V Roach Honors College at Texas Christian University and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Strategic Communications, a Spanish minor and a certificate of International Studies. During her time at TCU, Emily held the title of Frog Aides Director and was a member of the House of Student Representatives. Emily settled in Ft. Worth, TX after graduating TCU and worked for the Radler Foundation. She continued her not-for-profit career with Dallas Habitat for Humanity before transitioning to an ad agency, PMG Worldwide as an SEM Manager. Emily had a true passion for helping others and wanted to leave a lasting impact on our world. Emily continued giving back as a member of Southcliff Baptist Church serving in the Greeter ministry and volunteering with Cook Children’s Hospital in Ft. Worth TX prior to her return to Raymore MO. Emily is survived by her parents Mark and Kathye (Paul); sisters Jamie Schmalhorst (John) and Lexi Denney (Justin); maternal grandmother Sharon Lea Hacker (John); her nieces Amy, Sonja and Ember and nephew Oliver; fiance´ Caleb Whitson of Burleson, TX and many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends. In celebration of Emily’s life, her parents will hold a memorial service Friday, August 7 with visitation at 10:00 a.m. followed by her service at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church Kearney, 303 S. Grove Street, Kearney MO 64060. She will be buried next to her paternal grandmother, Mary Ruth Denney at the Fairview Cemetery, Kearney MO. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Emily’s honor to brain tumor research at either The University of Kansas Hospital (Kansas City KS) or UT Southwestern (Dallas TX).
