Obituary of Clarence Eugene Clevenger

Clarence Eugene “Gene” Clevenger of Excelsior Springs, passed away peacefully at home on August 17, 2020. Gene was born on September 12, 1927 to the late Clarence M and the late Cerena (Crouse) Clevenger in Ray County, Mo. He married Edith Hope Still on November 22, 1947, who proceeded him in death in 2007. Gene was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Beehive Masonic Lodge in Lawson and Angerona Masonic Lodge in Missouri City. He was an Ironworker and union member of Local #10 before his retirement in 1982. Upon his retirement he spent most of his time outdoors and working around the farm and home he loved. He also spent lots of time with his family, whom he adored. As the patriarch of a large extended family, he will be sadly missed. Having a full life of experiences, he always had a good story or a tale to make you laugh. Gene and Hope have left behind a daughter: Sharon (Ralph) Brand; two sons: Rick (Goshetta) Clevenger and David (Kathy) Clevenger; the grandson that was like a son: Chance (Ashley) Clevenger; twelve grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren; one brother: Glen Clevenger; as well as many nieces and nephews. Service will be held on Monday, August 24, 2020, at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Excelsior Springs with the visitation from 10:30 - 11:30 am; Funeral will be at 11:30am. Burial at North New Garden Cemetery following the funeral.
