Born Norma Frances Bowman on October 23, 1933 in Coffeyville, KS, she passed away peacefully, in her sleep, of natural causes on October 14, 2020 at age 86. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Elizabeth, and by two brothers, Stanley and Bobbie. She is survived by four children, Rustin Joe of Independence, MO; Kelly Diane of Excelsior Springs, MO; Patrick Dale of Lee's Summit, MO; and Timothy James of Hollywood, CA; two grandchildren, Jacob Dustin of Lee's Summit, MO and Elizabeth Diane of Kansas City, MO; and four great grandchildren, Kyla, Desmond, Nevaeh and Amelia. Known as “Monie” to her grandchildren, she was a woman of deep faith who loved her family very much. She was a singer who enjoyed participating in her church's choir as well as performing jazz standards at local venues. She was a writer who contributed frequently to the Excelsior Springs Daily Standard and one of her stories was published in Reader's Digest. She also led a Girl Scout troop, holding meetings in our home. She made a mean plate of peanut butter fudge. She is deeply missed and will live in our hearts forever.
