Obituary of Ted Warren Rowden

Please share a memory of Ted to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ted Warren Rowden passed away at home on November 6, 2020 at the age of 89. Ted was born in Childress, Texas on June 20, 1931 to the late J.W. and Vanera Rowden. As a young teenager, his family moved to Washington state where he graduated from high school, attended college, and married Glenda Joye Drum. They were married for 50 years prior to her passing in 2002. Ted joined the US Air Force in 1951. During his 30-year Air Force career, his assignments included Spain, Guam, and nine different states. Ted taught all four Rowden kids to play tennis and bridge, and to shoot skeet. Other family activities included horseback riding, water-skiing, camping, and playing highly-competitive board and card games. After retiring from the Air Force as a Lt. Col., Ted worked in Texas for 10 years at LTV Aircraft before fully retiring. He kept busy in retirement playing lots of tennis and bridge, tinkering in his workshop, and traveling. He and Glenda became globe trotters, visiting Greece, Italy, England, Scotland, Israel, Brazil, and numerous other countries (as well as all 50 states). “Every place once before any place twice” was their travel slogan. Ted is survived by four children: Ted (Wendy) Rowden Jr. of Bedford, VA; Lisa (Cindy) Rowden of Mebane, NC; Carol (Keith) Haynie of Kearney, MO; and Diana (Bill) Fuller of Kearney, MO; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Glenda, and infant daughter, Joye Lea.
