Steven Ray Courtney, 48 years, of Rayville, passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at his residence. He was born on Saturday, September 2, 1972, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of the late Marion and the late Jean (née Clark) Courtney. Survivors Include: • Patricia Myers, wife, of Rayville • Shawn (Erica) Ashlock, son, of Kansas City • Saphire Ashlock, granddaughter, of Kansas City • Leigha Courtney and Ian Desselle, daughter, of Raytown • Lilliauna Williamson, granddaughter, of Raytown • Isabella Desselle, granddaughter, of Raytown • Brittney Ridgeway, daughter, of Independence • Nathan Ridgeway, grandson, of Independence • Noell Ridgeway, granddaughter, of Independence • Gregory Junior Ridgeway, grandson, of independence • Jacqueline Myers and Jayvonn Jones, daughter, of Peculiar • Tiana Jones, granddaughter, of Peculiar • Justice Jones, grandson, of Peculiar • Marion (Dixie) Courtney, Jr, brother, of Lee's Summit • Sharon Courtney, sister, of Texas Steven was a trained Sous Chef. He was a creative, renaissance man that loved his family. He loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren. Even when he was in intense pain at times, he still loved to play with the grandchildren. He enjoyed woodworking, painting, sculpting, leather crafting, and could do just about anything. He enjoyed metal work, building his own forge. He loved making swords, gun handles, knives, and more. He loved medieval weaponry, and anything else ancient. He was a 4th degree black belt in taekwondo. He was also an avid football fan. While he was a Chiefs fan, he just loved the game and could watch it every day. .
