Obituary of Deborah Charlene Cureton

Please share a memory of Deborah to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Deborah Charlene (Chadwick) Cureton, 62, died February 6, 2021, with her family by her side in her home in Lawson, MO. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 10th at Hidden Valley Funeral Home in Lawson, between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Celebration of Life will be Thursday, February 11th at Old Union Christian Church at 1:00 p.m. She was born July 20, 1958, in Excelsior Springs, MO to Charles ‘Leroy’ and Lola Chadwick. Her father was a Navy veteran and mechanic. Her mother was a homemaker. They lived in many places in her childhood, and moved to Lawson in 1971. Debbie had fond childhood memories of trips to Arkansas to visit family, late nights at the drag strip, and baseball with her brothers. She graduated from Lawson High School in 1976 where she met her high school sweetheart, Melvin Cureton. They were married on August 15, 1975 and were together for 45 years. After graduation, they settled in Lawson to raise their family. Debbie was a homemaker while her husband worked at Ford Motor Co. Debbie loved camping and all things family. Some of her fondest memories were the weddings of her children, family dinners and vacations. She was an active member of Old Union Christian Church, women’s ministries and Attitude of Gratitude Bible study. She spent much of her time serving and cooking in church and the community. Her interests included family, camping, reading, storytelling, game nights, campfires and crocheting. She devoted much of her time and energy to her grandchildren, family members’ events and activities. Her faith influenced and was woven through all that she did at home and away. Her love for Christ was apparent in all she did and those that she touched. Debbie was bold in her faith and never missed an opportunity to share her love for Jesus. She deeply desired that all would know the joy of walking with Christ and the blessings that come from knowing the Lord. Mrs. Cureton is survived by her husband Melvin Cureton; mother, Lola Chadwick; 5 brothers and their spouses, Larry, Donald, Alan, Chuck, and Brian; 4 children and their spouses, Carissa Bolinger (Chris), Jenny Cantwell (Ben), Mallory Green (Troy) and Lee Cureton (Jessica); and 7 grandchildren (Maryanna, Powell, Israel, Lola, Christopher, Sammy & Charlene). She was preceded in death by her father Leroy and brother Terry. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Lawson Food Pantry (checks payable to Lawson Food Pantry).
