Obituary of Carroll Louis Surber

Carroll Louis Surber, age 97, of Chillicothe, MO passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones on January 3, 2022. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan 8 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Meadville Church of Christ 400 Macon Street, Meadville Missouri. Funeral service will follow visitation starting at 11:00 AM. Internment service will follow funeral service at Resthaven Memorial Garden in Chillicothe. He was born on March 16, 1924 in Meadville, MO and was the son of Everett and Louella (Ginther) Surber. On January 5, 1958 Carroll married the love of his life, Lena Trumbo at the Chula Baptist Church in Chula, MO. Carroll was a hard-working, easy-going optimist who loved people. He was a true patriot and served his country honorably in WW II. Carroll was also a man of deep faith who served as a deacon for over 40 years at the Meadville Church of Christ. After his love of the Lord, Carroll loved his family above all else. He was humble, patient and kind and left a favorable impression on all who met him. His witty personality and bright smile could light up any room. To know him was to love him. He was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed. Carroll is survived by his wife, Lena; his son; Neil (Mary Ann); granddaughters, Katelynn Gore (Tyler) and Anna Surber; sisters-in-law, Lela Jackson and Betty Surber and numerous nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his son, Dale; his parents; brothers, Donald Surber and Leroy Surber; brother-in-law, Lowell Jackson; nephews, Cary Surber and John Surber and niece, Jennifer (Surber) Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meadville Church of Christ, 400 Macon Street, Meadville Missouri.
